Lewes Society of Friends (Quakers) warmly invite to a Workshop entitled;
Karen Armstrong:
compassion, the Golden Rule & healing (riotous) alienation.
After an account of KA’s work on compassion and the Golden Rule we will explore the
WORKSHOP QUESTIONS:
In the light of KA’s work how do people get alienated from others? How can we deepen dialogue to help healing and unity? More specifically what inspiration, theory or practice, can we glean from KA to contribute for the healing of alienation – alienation such as that expressed in the August 2011 UK riots? Many questions then arise such as ‘If society is broken who broke it?’ and ‘How many groups need healing?’ ‘Do we need healing and about what and through what?’ ‘Who is best at reaching the alienated?’ etc. PERSONALLY: How can I be an agent of (my) healing? and COMMUNALLY: How can the communities of which I’m a member contribute to healing alienation?
